Here's what's happening for the month of September......

Lucerne

Lucerne Watershed Council meets on Wednesday, September 5th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, located at 10th and Country Club Drive in Lucerne is the meeting site for our newest watershed organization. This is the beginning of another great watershed group, so don't miss it. The group has been working on their MOU, and this may finally be the night to sign and celebrate! If you belong to a neighboring watershed group, drop by and share your experiences with the Lucerne members. I know they'd enjoy hearing from the "voice of experience."

Kelseyville

Big Valley Watershed Council meets on Tuesday, September 11th, 6:30 to 8 p.m. This month's meeting is being held a week later than normal. Between the Fair, the Labor Day holiday, and the start of school... well, a week later seemed like a good idea! This month's meeting will be held at the American Legion Hall, 2nd St and Gaddy Lane in Kelseyville. This should be a very educational meeting that I would encourage everyone to attend. Jeff Tunnell, Fire Prevention Specialist from the Bureau of Land Management, will be giving a presentation on the impacts that wildfire can have on water quality and the health of the watershed. Don't miss this meeting! The group will also be recruiting volunteers for the Kelseyville Pear Festival on September 29th. This booth is for ALL the groups, so let's give them a helping hand and sign on to help out. And I hear the booth is located right next to the famous pear milkshakes.... If you reside in the vicinity of Kelsey Creek from Forest Lake on Cobb Mountain to its exit into Clear Lake, you're strongly encouraged to attend. Be sure to tell your neighbors!

Upper Lake

Middle Creek CRMP meets on Wednesday, September 12, 6:30 to 8 p.m. In addition to their regular business meeting, the CRMP will be working on the Middle Creek Watershed Assessment. The meeting will be held at the Upper Lake Fire Station, 9420 Main Street in Upper Lake. If you live near Clover Creek, Sam Alley Creek, the town of Upper Lake, or the areas near the East Fork and West Fork of Middle Creek to Rodman Slough, you should plan to attend. Please help spread the word!

Special Event

September 15th "Coastal" Cleanup. Located near the "coast" of Nice, Dave Hendrick, co-chair for the Nice Watershed Group is helping organize the volunteers who would like to participate in this annual event. If you'd like to become part of their watershed group for the day, please call Dave at 245-5121.

Lower Lake

Lower Lake Watershed Council meets Tuesday, September 18th, 6 to 7:30 p.m. The council will meet in the Science Room at Carle` Continuation High School, 9345 Winchester Street, Lower Lake to CELEBRATE! They're currently beginning work on a creek restoration project, and Phase I will be completed by their meeting date! If you'd like to help out with a great restoration project, it's not too late to volunteer. Contact me at 263-4180 x16, and let's talk. They'll be plenty of work to go around on September 6 and 14, so if you're available -- give me a call. Be sure to attend this meeting and help the group celebrate their success with an awesome project.

Lakeport

Scotts Creek Watershed Council meets Thursday, September 20th, 6 to 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Scotts Valley Women's Clubhouse, 2298 Hendricks Road in Lakeport. The council continues their work on the Scotts Creek Watershed Assessment, and their support for the Eight Mile Valley project. There will be a special presentation about the project (located in the upper reaches of the Scotts Creek Watershed), so don't miss it! This is another busy group with lots going on. If you live in the areas near Witter Springs, Bachelor Valley, Blue Lakes, Scotts Valley, Cow Mountain, and Tule Lake to the confluence at Rodman Slough, plan to attend this meeting. Invite your neighbors!

Lakeport

Chi Council for the Clear Lake Hitch meets Wednesday, September 26th, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The council will be meeting at the Agriculture Center's Conference Room, 883 Lakeport Blvd. in Lakeport. They'll have some exciting information to report, so be sure to be there. If you're not already involved, become involved.
